Acceptable file formats for poetry are: Microsoft Word .doc or .docx, Adobe Acrobat .pdf, Rich text format .rtf, or plain text format .txt. Acceptable formats for artwork & photography are: .jpg, .png, .gif, and .tif. If sending more than one work, place inside a folder and compress into a .zip file before uploading. We prefer contemporary urban themes—writing from the gut that is not afraid to bark or bite—and shy away from pastoral, religious, and rhyming verse. If you're unsure, the editors strongly recommend that you sample a current or back issue of Slipstream. Payment is in copies of the magazine in which your work appears. Directions In order to submit poetry electronically to Slipstream, we ask that you please create an account with us through Submittable. This is a free service provided to writers to facilitate online submissions and correspondence. It just takes a few seconds to sign up. 1. Click on the "SIGN UP NOW" link below. 2. Fill out the brief User Account form and submit to complete the process. SIGN UP NOW You can expect a response in about five to ten weeks, depending on the volume of submissions we receive. Submit one file only, consisting of 3 to 5 poems per submission. Please DO NOT re-submit until we have informed you of our decision.
